The Royale Monza Owners Club International
Report from The Big Opel Club Netherlands Annual Rally in Belgium?
Last September we found ourselves on holiday, not in the Monza sad to say, in the Netherlands and rather than attending the mini rally we decided to go to see the Big Opels National Rally in Essen Belgium.

Yes it all seems confusing but off we went. We crossed the border without noticing very much, in fact the old customs house looked like it had been converted into a café. A few meters later or should that have been yards we turned left & wound our way to a farm with a large outbuilding & fields attached.

We were met by the Big Opel Team & made to feel very welcome, I asked why we were in Belgium for this event & Samantha told me that it was because of the restrictions in Holland with licences insurance etc & it was much easier in Belgium. Anyway you could walk across the field & back into Holland if you felt homesick.

They had some very interesting cars many of which were being attacked by the rust bug and most had been converted to run on gas. What was interesting was that they claimed to have an injection system to allow for engines without hardened valves. Apparently old large engines running on petrol are heavily taxed & hence gas conversion was deemed essential.

Had a nice day took a few pictures & would have liked to sit in the sunshine but...
